Have you ever found yourself daydreaming, or been on a train journey where you have completely lost track of time as you stare out of the window? Perhaps you have been immersed in a good film or book and forgotten everything else around you. This is a natural form of hypnosis.
Hypno -psychotherapy is a way of accessing this naturally occurring state of focused attention or deep relaxation to access the subconscious. This helps create the space for change and growth. It will help you reframe your approach to challenges. It can help you learn and create strategies that lead to meaningful and lasting change. I predominantly work from a Person-Centred perspective which means I believe that all us have the answers within to acheive change and growth. The process is different for every individual. Everyone has different ways of exploring their own material. We are unique and therefore need different approaches, spaces and styles to unlock our potential.
Hypnotherapy can be useful to explore a range of issues and is unique to the individual. I prefer not to put labels on conditions and work with the person in front of me. Sometimes, it might be useful to label what we are experiencing, however often it might be a block to finding a way forward. Using hypnosis to access the subconscious is a way to work through your reasons for seeking help.
Anyone can benefit from hypnotherapy. The most important thing is establishing the relationship between you and your therapist. Not everyone will be right for you, when choosing a therapist, make sure their approach, style and environment suits you.
At Gentle Shift, we work collaboratively using hypnotherapy to:
